Miniature Golf: Putting It Plainly

Also known as mini golf, miniature golf is modeled after the game of golf and it is also called Putt-putt which is a gernericized trademark of a miniature golf company and is a term that commonly describes this sport. A number of miniature golf courses exist of which five have official recognition with baton and eternit being the most common.

There is the same number of holes as in a normal golf course, though fewer holes may exist such as twelve holes with the main objective being to place the golf ball in the hole using the fewest strokes possible. The main difference is obviously that the holes are much shorter and are simple putting surfaces.

Challenges in the Form of Ramps and Bunkers

To make it more challenging for good golf swing, there are a number of obstacles presented such as ramps and bunkers and it is quite a popular pastime around the world, especially among families. The first miniature golf course may have been either the backyard Thistle Dhu course in Pinehurst, North Carolina which was formed in 1916 or the 1927 Tom Thumb patent of Garnet Carter that is located in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. However, The Ladies’ Putting Club of St. Andrews, Scotland was the first miniature golf course and it began operations in 1867 and was an answer to what was considered inappropriate for women to raise a club beyond their shoulders. Thus miniature golf courses such as this had regulations that adapted golf especially for play by women in this manner.

It is a very competitive game and is played in the United States as well as other parts of the world and there are two organizations that offer miniature golf tournaments at the professional level in the United States which are The Professional Putters Association and the US Pro Mini-Golf Association. It is also popular in Europe and every even numbered year, top European golfers via in miniature golf championships to win the European Champion title in individual as well as team competition.

The miniature golf course is for some, nothing short of a dream that is also manifested in movies and is thought of as magic incarnate, a beautifully set course in a landscape that allows the imagination a lot of latitude for new golf swing. Some may even think that the miniature golf course be compared to the Louvre or Stonehenge, such is its artistic merit. It provides the many people a means of playing the sport without the attached expenses and frills.

Considering Golf Swing Instruction & Golf Swing Analysis

Golfers everywhere try to replicate the “perfect” improve golf swing to improve their game in leaps and bounds, making shots effortless and very professional. However, one thing to note that there is no such thing as the perfect golf swing as there is only a perfect golf swing for each player. As our bodies were made differently, so should our mentality in swinging a golf club. By adhering to basic principles and practicing everyday, anyone can achieve perfection and hit the ball onto the green every single time.

A lot of golfers suffer from not being able to hit either their drivers or irons right at all, causing slices and other problems with their swing. Some tend to have a “to blame” list: the weather, the slope, too much overtime affecting their game, or that they’re just warming up. One thing that golfers ignore is the fact that basic motions are always the best way to go. Here are six basic principles that can help you get the mechanics of your golf swing properly.

1. Alignment is crucial in hitting your target square. The fundamental concept behind a proper golf swing trainer is hitting the ball dead center, which means that alignment is the most important basic in a proper golf swing.

2. Make sure that you have a comfortable stance that will let you rotate your body in the most effortless way possible. Think of your spine as an axis and find your center of gravity by pushing your backside out. Once you achieve that comfortable stance, then you should have less problems.

3. Always keep your eyes at what you are trying to hit. This has got to be the most ignored rule as it seems so simple. However, this definitely is the most important rule to keep in mind as you have to see what you are supposed to hit in the first place the actually hit. This is all about common sense, so do it.

4. Be patient and keep your mind concentrated on your goal. Do this by thinking smoothly and having your feet planted firmly on the ground. This is not about what happens next or what you did in the past. This is about the present, and you should always concentrate on what is now to achieve anything significant in the future. This way, you can achieve proper rhythm in your golf swing.

5. A good way of thinking is “sweep” for woods and “pinch” for irons. This may sound strange, but it can help you with your game as these are how clubs are designed. An iron is supposed to pinch the ball off the ground, while a driver is supposed to sweep it off the tee.

6. Humming a rhythm can help you keep your mind away from the golf swing and more on hitting the ball. These two things sound similar, but there is a fundamental difference. Thinking about the golf swing is a complication as it is more about technical aspects of the game, while hitting the ball is just the basic concept that the game is about.

Keeping things simple is the way to go as it helps you concentrate on the details that truly matter without making you panic when you do commit a mistake. Fear and lack of self-esteem are the enemies of a golfer.

Improving your golf swing follow through is an important aspect of golf that many golfers, especially amateurs that are just beginning to learn the fundamentals of the game of golf must master if they ever want to become a great golfer. Many golfers fail to give importance to the golf swing follow through because their reasoning is that there is little one can really do to influence the ball once it leaves the head of the golf club. They fail to realize that it is the preparation to get a good golf swing follow through that really matters. Follow through is in fact a very important aspect of your golf swing and if you prepare for it well, you can be sure that you will hit the ball in just the right way for it to go where you want it to.

The trick with developing a good golf swing follow through is to do it consistentlyuntil it becomes a habit. You maybe interested to know, what are the different elements of a really good golf swing follow through. First is the hand finish. If you want to develop a good golf swing follow through then you must observe how your hands finish each and every time you swing. Ideally, the hands should finish in a high position. When your hands finish in a high position, it means that you were able to bring them straight through the area of impact as it approaches the target. A hand finish located below the left shoulder is indicative of a flat swing or excessive rolling of the wrists during impact.

Another element that you need to observe to ensure a good golf swing follow through is the finishing position of your right shoulder. The ideal finish of your right shoulder is down and underneath the left one. If you are able to achieve this then it means that you were able to hit the ball straight through
and avoided pulling the face of the club across.

The final element that you need to observe is the position of your head. You should keep your head down and slightly tilted so that you will be able to watch the flight of the ball in its entirety in the corner of your left eye. If you are able to achieve this head position then it means that you were able to maintain a steady and low position all through out the swing.
